AWHONN Leaders on the Hill
The AWHONN Leaders on the Hill program educates nurses about the importance of federal advocacy efforts, including how to establish a positive, working relationship with elected officials and their aides. Each participant visits their legislators on Capitol Hill to advocate for important issues affecting the health of women and newborns.
In 2009, nearly 130 AWHONN members visited the offices of 72 legislators asking for support of federal postpartum depression legislation.
