HistoryAWHONN was established in 1969 within the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. At that time, the association was known as the Nurses Association of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (NAACOG). Members focused on providing educational opportunities and enhancing practice standards for nurses specializing in women’s health, obstetric and neonatal care. In 1993, the organization became an independent association and received its tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. . | ||
