Justifying the Value of Attending
How to get employer support to attend the 2011 AWHONN Convention.
We believe the four days at the AWHONN 2011
Convention will be the most cost-effective and rewarding professional
development experience you will have in 2011. You will experience a full year of
benefits in the form of new and greater knowledge that you can apply directly to
patient care.

Here are some more tips to help get employer support for attending the
AWHONN 2011 Convention:
Explain
Yourself
Explain what you plan to get out of by attending
the convention and how that will benefit your work, organization and
patients.
Present
Offer to
prepare and deliver a short presentation and Q&A to your colleagues to
share what you learned. That way others on your unit will get the
benefits of your attendance.
Share
Share the
syllabus and speaker handouts with your colleagues.
Consider Magnet Status
If your hospital
has or is trying to obtain magnet status, remind your supervisor that
demonstrating staff participation in continuing education is vital to securing
and keeping magnet status.
Have a Plan
Be
ready with a plan that shows who will cover your shift while you're attending
the conference.
Be Pro-Active

- Register before the early bird discount expires on 4/15/11.
