Dear AWHONN Colleagues,
As you can see, our SAVE THE DATEinvitation has been emailed to all California members and we are counting on YOU to forward it to your networking list! It is posted on the website so everyone who comes to our website can see when our Section Conference will be. While Folsom may seem a bit “rural” to some, the Lake Natoma Inn is lovely and the area surrounding it is quite metropolitan!
We have quite the agenda lined up and I am, indeed, bragging when I say we have secured the current AWHONN president, Rose Horton, the current ACNM president, Holly Kennedy, and the 2007 AWHONN president, Judy Poole, as presenters. And that is just to name a few!! We have so much talent in California and we have tapped into it! Jamie Vincent, Nancy Peterson, Mary Barger, Tiffany Montgomery, Holly Champagne, Audrey Lyndon and Beth Stephens-Hennessyare on our line-up for incredible topics to stimulate those neurons in your brains! Guaranteed to inspire and motivate, these presenters will offer ideas to take back to your place of work to carry on AWHONN’s mission of “promoting the health of women and newborns.” In addition to these fantastic women presenting on March 1st and 2nd, we have 4 pre-cons scheduled on Thursday, February 28thYes, you read that correctly – 4!  We have secured some innovative presenters for an 8 hour STABLE class (Cynthia Jensen and Elizabeth Rex), an introduction to ObLS (Andrea Puck), an AWHONN FHM Instructor-Trainer course (Kristi Gabel and Beth Stephens-Hennessy) and a Breastfeeding (Melanie Vose) seminar. It is an awful lot of “bang for your buck” in Folsom! We are working on the brochure and it should be out in early November. There is a great hotel rate at the Lake Natoma Inn as well.
We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Audrey Lyndon, PhD, RNC-OB, CNS, FAANfor adding some impressive initials to her credentials. Audrey was recently inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nurses. We are so very proud of you, Audrey!! We will be celebrating you at our conference in Folsom!!
For those of you who were able to attend the Leadership Conference in Washington in September, we thank you for sending on information to the rest of the chapter leaders. We will be posting that on the website and discussing it with you all in March. We will schedule a chapter leader meeting while in Folsom as the Advisory Counsel.
Keep your questions and concerns coming to both of us. We find ourselves doing a fair amount of troubleshooting for the Section members so keep on asking!
