The Need

The need for diapers in low-income or poor families is constantly on the rise. In fact, according to the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN), one in three families in the United States is affected by not having enough diapers to keep their babies and toddlers clean, dry and healthy. More than 5.2 million children living in low-income households are at risk for serious skin irritations and infections, due to families resorting to reusing diapers.

Nurses have long been working to address this critical health issue within the nation. For the third year in a row, the nurses of AWHONN are kicking off the 2017 Diaper Drive to collect diapers for families in need.

Get Involved

This year, AWHONN is calling for support from our Sections and Chapters to engage with members in diaper drives. AWHONN Section and Chapter Leaders may host their respective diaper drive at their section/chapter meetings or conferences.  Click here to connect with AWHONN to obtain your 2017 Diaper Drive toolkit

AWHONN members may donate diapers or a monetary contribution to their closest Section and/or Chapter.  To connect with your local Section/Chapter, visit:

Once the Sections and Chapters leaders have completed their Diaper Drives, we encourage them to turn in their diaper donations to their nearest diaper member bank. Finally, Sections and Chapters leaders are asked to provide AWHONN a brief report of how many diapers and/or monetary contributions were collected.
