Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor Recognition Program
Share |

The AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Program (FHM) provides fetal heart monitoring education to approximately 15,000 perinatal clinicians each year worldwide.

The Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor Recognition Award is an opportunity to acknowledge and highlight Instructors' involvement, unwavering commitment and significant contributions in helping AWHONN achieve our goals for promoting the health of women and newborns.  Our Instructors truly make a difference in helping AWHONN's FHM Program stand above the rest.

Rebecca Chavez, BSN, RN

Rebecca has 22 years experience as a nurse in high and low risk labor and delivery at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno Nevada. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix and is currently working on obtaining her Masters of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on midwifery from Frontier Nursing University, Kentucky. For the past 13 years, she has been involved in staff development and training, new hire orientation, annual OB competency and obstetrical emergency training. She is a perinatal bereavement coordinator and developed a staff manual in nursing care of bereaved families. In 2003, she joined AWHONN and became an FHM instructor and now teaches basic, intermediate and advanced fetal monitoring. Working for a large regional facility has given Rebecca the opportunity to provide outreach education of the AWHONN FHM program to smaller rural hospitals in Northern Nevada.
