This interactive simulation program is framed around an intrapartum patient case study with associated electronic fetal monitoring tracing. Participants utilize the patient's clinical information to frame interpretations of the tracing characteristics, assign a category and select clinical interventions. Feedback is provided in the form of the correct response designation to the eighty-nine questions with rationale statements. The program may be used as interval education to complement, but not replace instructor-led instruction.
This program is designed for intrapartum registered nurses who have knowledge and expertise in electronic fetal monitoring and who have previously completed intermediate level education.
- Interpret electronic fetal monitoring tracings applying the 2008 NICHD/ACOG/SMFM terminology categories.
- Analyze a patient case study and EFM tracing and apply principles of maternal-fetal physiology through selection of clinical interventions appropriate for the patient cases.
