NOEP4 Photo Submissions

AWHONN is currently looking for images and videos from families and nurses that care for newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within the United States and its territories. We are hoping to obtain images that include families that are multicultural and diverse. These photos are intended to illustrate a variety of medical scenarios to be used in the fourth edition of AWHONN’s Neonatal Orientation and Education Program.


Examples of Images to Submit
  • NICU infants with their mothers and families,  infants intubated, tube fed, breastfeeding, NICU development care interventions

  • NICU setting, specific procedures, and equipment

  • Operating Room (OR): Skin-to-skin, during epidural insertion, birth of infant, transitioning to extrauterine life, nurse supporting patient

  • Sensitive family moments: Deceased infant with family, religious ceremony of deceased infant

  • Other clinical scenarios: Women in labor, use of nitrous oxide, nurse supporting mother with normal labor interventions (i.e. on birthing ball, water birth), mother/baby dyad skin-to-skin, father skin-to-skin, mother ambulating, etc.


Entry Period

Entries can begin on January 9, 2017

The final date to submit images or video will be February 9, 2018 at 5pm Eastern Time.


To submit a photo please fill out and upload the AWHONN Photo/Video Release Form and Model Release Form.
