The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is a nonprofit membership organization that promotes the health of women and newborns.




Marketing Manager

AWHONN is seeking an experienced manager to develop and execute marketing strategy to support AWHONN’s education product outreach, including digital marketing and website content. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent customer perspective in development and execution of marketing plans.
  • Use targeted, multichannel communications to create awareness and increase revenue in educational product lines.
  • Write and edit marketing copy and collaborate with graphic design team for campaign execution..
  • Drive brand visibility in key markets and collaborate with AWHONN staff to conduct periodic gap analyses to maximize marketing efforts. 
  • Identify customer needs and make recommendations on new product development.
  • Manage implementation of website updates such as landing pages, banner ads and content marketing to support marketing campaigns.
  • Develop, implement and improve on marketing operations processes to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness of department.
  • Responsible for supporting staff or volunteers exhibiting at designated events and, when necessary, staffing the booth.
  • Plan and deploy digital marketing tactics including Google Adwords, LinkedIn advertising, email and social media marketing; evaluate and report on ROI of digital marketing tactics.
  • Create, update and evaluate website content to include key words, SEO, analysis and direction to improve AWHONN’s ranking in organic search results.
  • Demonstrate awareness of emerging marketing trends and leverage new marketing tactics as appropriate.


Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or equivalent.  Demonstrated creative writing and editing skills.   At least 3-5 years of related experience working in a marketing environment, particularly at an individual membership association.   Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and improve ROI.  Comfortable with website editing programs and creating and posting content on websites.  Creative thinker, willing to take risks, finds new ways to accomplish tasks and think in nontraditional ways about membership acquisition and retention.  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective lines of communications with colleagues, consultants/vendors, members and volunteers. Demonstrated ability to remain flexible, manage multiple  priorities and stay highly organized especially with high volume, numerous details and often under tight deadlines . Outstanding organizational skills.  Continually motivated to succeed and improve.  Advanced computer skills to include advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), knowledge of SEO and basics of PhotoShop extremely helpful.


Manager of Section and Chapter Services

AWHONN is currently seeking an experienced individual to plan, organize and implement the support and services for the association’s sections and chapters. 


Incumbent’s primary responsibilities will be:

  • Section Development and support:
    • Provide leadership and direction to section and chapter leaders.
    • Manage annual leadership development plan, to include support for program, leadership and membership development at the section and chapter levels.
    • Work with sections and chapters orient new and continuing national, section and chapter elected and appointed leaders to their roles, responsibilities and association priorities.
    • Identify and develop tools and resources to support section/chapter program, leadership and membership development in conjunction with marketing department.
    • Represent the association at national and section conferences and act as a resource for leaders and members alike.
    • Update Section and Chapter Leader area of the website and oversee the monthly Section and 
  • Oversee the Section Advisory Committee
    • Work with the 12 person committee on implementing and maintain the nine focus areas identified by the Section Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors
    • Institute a new communication structure between the BOD, HQ and Sections/Chapters
  • Section Grants Program
    • Administer and manage the Section/Chapter Initiatives Grant and work in conjunction with the finance department and the Board of Directors.
    • Track and report on innovative program, leadership and membership development programs at the section and chapter levels.
  • Convention Host Committee
    • Function as Co-chair liaison to the Annual Convention Host Committee.
  • Elections
    • Coordinate section election process and support for section nominating committee.

Ideal candidate must have B.A. degree or equivalent. At least five years of successful experience in volunteer management preferably with non-profit organization. Three to 5 years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, teamwork orientation, and ability to motivate wide range of people. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated writing ability, public speaking and training/development experience. Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage projects; strong organizational skills. Proven track record of planning training and/or conference for volunteer management. Conflict mediation experience preferred. Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team and with all levels of staff, Board, membership and volunteers. Word processing proficiency, preferably in Microsoft Word.  Experience in Excel as well as database management experience preferred. Basic html a plus. Ability to train and educate other. Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to be critical thinker, problem solver and ability to troubleshoot. Travel up to 25%  Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
