Welcome to the AWHONN West Virginia Section Community!

Needs Survey Link

Thanks to the 25 members who responded to the needs survey, this will help the leadership team to organize educational sessions over the term. A couple of noted findings:

  • There are multiple levels of fetal monitoring classes needed from basics for the new nurses to a couple of requests for instructor courses.
  • Keeping women healthy and informed throughout the lifespan--fertility awareness, diet and exercise, menopausal and post menopausal support
  • The ongoing opioid crisis--pain management for opioid depended women and supporting their babies through withdrawal
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Complex care: in the ICU setting, trauma, GDM, hypertension, hemorrhage, pulmonary embolisms
  • Psychological needs from anxiety and stress during pregnancy to postpartum mood disorders
