Postpartum Emergencies Knowing When and How to Escalate Care Webinar

Speaker: Valerie Huwe RNC, MS, CNS Perinatal Outreach Educator

The content will include a review of normal physiologic changes of pregnancy and the postpartum period, and how comorbidities like preeclampsia, diabetes, and obesity can contribute to maternal decompensation during postpartum emergencies.

Our speaker will highlight the importance of the 5Rs; risk assessment, readiness, recognition, response, and review in improving outcomes for the mother and infant. Case presentations will focus on emergency management of eclampsia,uterine atony resulting in unplanned hysterectomy, and a venous Thromboembolic event.
