Update-April 17, 2018

Christine Gurney, the section education coordinator has updated the documents to support your own printing of Continuing Education certificates, please see section below and documents at the bottom.

Education: offering CEs

  • Identify an event/conference in which you plan to offer CEs.
  • Ensure you have language on the registration flyer that reflects BRN requirements prior to distributing/promoting. (See BRN regulations attachment below)
  • Collect the CV (resume) for each presenter.
  • List measurable objectives for each presenter on the evaluation.
  • Each attendee must complete an evaluation if receiving CEs.
  • If not printing your own, make arrangements with Christine to have the CE certificates readied prior to event.  Her email is
  • To print your own certificates: use the fillable CE certificate or the Mail-Merge CE certificate options below (directions for CE certificate mail-merge document and Excel spreadsheet attached below). Contact Christine for technical support if needed.
  • Complete for CE certificate each person attending and give them the original copy.
  •   The following paperwork is sent to Christine within 4 weeks of the event:
    • Meeting report form (See attached file below-California Section Education Report)
    • Original sign in sheet
    • Original program flyer with objectives
    • Evaluations of the program
    • Speaker CVs
    • Copy of the CE certificate provided

Email and Webpage:

We are trying to get the message that everyone should start checking the webpage for all communication in our section. Please encourage your members to access the state page as well as the chapter page for you. Please try and keep this updated by sending me announcements, flyers for meetings, etc.

As leaders, you also have access to the section leader page (check your profile) which has a member roster that you can retrieve for the whole state or just particular zip codes or counties. Use this list to target your local members. It has all contact information listed.

Brainstormed ideas for growing chapter:

    • By offering a free state registration fee  to a chapter member
    • Hosting a meeting with a speaker and offer CEs
    • Provide simulation training and partner with a local hospital

It was also suggested to start a Yahoo group for all leaders to be able to network and share ideas and be the house for files. You all should have been invited by now and there is some interesting discussion about having our next conference as a cruise to Mexico.

Meeting information:

Chapters are not allowed to have a bank account, therefore there is only one account which is managed by the State Secretary/Treasurer.

If you collect money at your local chapter meetings, you must send all money to the Section Secretary/Treasurer, Kandice Duns at  Fill out the bank deposit form and send in with your money. (See attached file below)

If you have any expenses, you can pay out of pocket and get reimbursed through the state account. Send in original receipts along with the Check Request Form (see attached file below)

If there is a large expense, such as a restaurant bill for a large group, you can request an estimate from the restaurant in advance and submit to Candy and she can issue a check in advance to you to pay. You would then pay the extra or get a final bill from the restaurant if we overpaid, so Candy can get overage back.

You will also need to have a section education report completed and forward along to the appropriate people listed at the top of the form. (See attached form-Chapter Activity Report Form)
