CNE Offerings and Information



NCC Coding: The sessions have been reviewed by NCC and coded for maintenance. NCC codes can be found on pages 28-29 in your final program or click here for a listing.

IBLCE L-CERPS: A total of 10 L-CERPS have been awarded for specific sessions.

  • PC3 – 3.75 hours (registration required at an additional fee)
  • PC7 – 3.75 hours (registration required at an additional fee)
  • B2/C2 – 1 hour
  • H3 – 1.5 hours

Handouts: You can access select handouts through the Convention App. We suggest you check before, during and immediately following the convention for updated handouts. All speakers are asked to provide handouts for attendees; however some speakers choose not to submit handouts.

The Convention App can be accessed at app.awhonnconvention.org and in your favorite app store. Password: welovenurses

Evaluations: You can begin completing the online session evaluations immediately after attending the session at awhonn.org/2017sessionhub. You have until August 31, 2017 to complete your online session evaluations and overall convention survey.

Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)


AWHONN Contact Hours At this time, the maximum CNE that can be earned while attending the 2017 pre-convention and convention educational activities is 32.75 contact hours. This number includes CNE offered for poster review and attendance at optional, ticketed events. To obtain contact hours for a session, you must attend the entire session and complete an online evaluation of it.

Accreditation Statement Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Accredited status does not imply endorsement by AWHONN or the American Nurses Credentialing Center of any commercial products displayed or discussed in conjunction with an educational activity.
AWHONN is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP580.

American College Of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) CEU Credit An application for continuing education credit will be filed with ACNM.

Pharmacology Content AWHONN broadly defines pharmacology content as reference to the origin, nature, effects and uses of drugs. Sessions with pharmacology content are labeled Rx.

Guide to Educational Sessions

Unless otherwise indicated, attendance at the session is included in the price of convention registration.

The Leadership Summit (SS) is held on Saturday, June 24. There is a separate fee for the Summit which includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.

Pre-convention (PC) Workshops are concurrent sessions held Saturday, June 24 and Sunday morning, June 25 before official opening of convention at 1 PM. There is an additional fee to attend, which includes a continental breakfast at morning workshops and beverages and snacks at afternoon workshops.

General Sessions (GS) are one-hour keynote sessions and open to all registrants. Most general sessions include brief acknowledgements of members receiving awards for everything from extraordinary bedside nursing skills to excellence in writing, research and advocacy.

Nursing Excellence Sessions (NE) are four concurrent 75-minute sessions held immediately after the Opening Ceremony, featuring compelling issues in the focus areas of women’s health, obstetrics, newborn care and professional issues.

Specialty Sessions (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) are 60- or 90-minute presentations. These presentations offer attendees the opportunity to hear experts present the most current information on a variety of clinical, professional and research topics.

Oral Paper Presentations are included during the concurrent sessions. These presentations will focus on eitheran Innovative Program, Original Research or Evidence-Based Quality Improvement Project.

The Poster Room is an independent study of Innovative Program, Case Study, Evidence- Based Quality Improvement Projects and Research Posters. Poster presenters will be available to discuss their work at specified times. If you elect to visit at other times, you are invited to contact the presenter directly if you have questions.

Symposia (S) are 75-minute sessions conducted by AWHONN staff, leaders of healthcare and/or industry partners.
