The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) has been selected to join The Nursing Community Coalition’s Steering Committee with eight other organizations that represent practice, education, research, and regulation. AWHONN is proud to be able include our expertise in the clinical practice of care for women and newborns to bolster nursing collective advocacy.

The Nursing Community Coalition includes 65 national professional nursing associations that builds consensus and advocates on a wide spectrum of healthcare issues to support the education and practice of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). The coalition represents over one million practicing nurses, nurse executives, and nursing students, faculty, and researchers.

The Steering Committee is the only standing committee of the Nursing Community. This committee is responsible for reviewing and approving time-sensitive communications on behalf of the Nursing Community as it relates to the core principles, attending in-person Hill or Administration meetings on behalf of the Nursing Community, and providing policy and advocacy updates at the full Nursing Community membership meetings.

“We are honored to be selected to be a part of The Nursing Community Coalition’s Steering Committee” said AWHONN's Chief Executive Officer, Lynn Erdman, MN, RN, FAAN. “We look forward to contributing our clinical expertise in nursing for women and babies to Capitol Hill and to continue to advocate for their needs.”
