TOP NURSING ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES 2019 PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is pleased to announce that Cheryl Roth, PhD, WHNP-BC, RNC-OB, RNFA is AWHONN’s 2019 President. Roth’s term officially began January 1, 2019.

 

Roth has been a nurse for 38 years and has worked in all areas of women’s health. She is currently working as the Nurse Practitioner in a Level III High Risk Obstetrics unit at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea/Osborn in Scottsdale, AZ. Her duties include clinical oversight of the Antepartum High Risk Unit, responsibility for all nursing research projects on her units, and assistance with education. As Coordinator of the CCC (Coordinated Care Program for Complex Moms and Babies), she manages an innovative program to support patients with high risk diagnoses during pregnancy, delivery, and throughout the postpartum stay.

 

She received her PhD in Global Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2014, and her dissertation was titled “Human Factors Contributing to Nursing Errors.” She has published in Nursing for Women’s Health, JOGNN, JONA, Nursing Forum, and MCN. Her commitment to the care of women, newborns, and nurses is encompassed in her personal mission statement, which begins “My life shall be about birth.”

 

New members of the 2018 AWHONN Board of Directors include 2019 President-Elect Rebecca Cypher, MSN, PNNP and Directors Margie Bridges, DNP, RNC-OB, ARNP-BC, CNS; Shakira Henderson, PhD, DNP, MS, MPH, RNC-NIC, IBCLC; and Audrey Lyndon, PhD, RNC-OB, FAAN.

 

“I want to wish our new President-Elect and Board of Directors a heartfelt congratulations” said AWHONN's 2018 President, Jennifer L. Doyle, MSN, WHNP-BC, “I look forward to working with them to help continue to move AWHONN forward.”
