The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is pleased to announce that Rick Burt, CAE, has been promoted to Vice President of Membership and Volunteer Engagement.

“Rick has been an integral member of the team for the past couple of years and has demonstrated a high level of professionalism, competence and commitment to AWHONN’s mission. Rick is a true servant leader, exemplifies what it means to be a team player, and has thoughtfully supported his internal and member teams. We thank Rick for his service as Interim VP and are excited to have him to continue moving AWHONN forward in this more permanent capacity,” said AWHONN CEO Jonathan Webb, MPH, MBA.

“I am excited to continue my service at AWHONN in this role and I am eager to contribute my knowledge and expertise to make a positive impact on the membership experience,” said Burt.

Burt joined AWHONN in 2020 as Director of Membership Development, then served as Interim Vice President from October 2021 to April 2022. He leads the organization’s membership, customer service and volunteer development efforts.

Burt’s previous roles include the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity (PIKE). He is a 2016-2018 class of ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) scholars. In 2018, Burt earned the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential and was recognized as one of Association Forum’s “Forty Under 40” professionals. He’s a long-time ASAE volunteer and currently serves on the CAE Exam Committee.

In 2020, Burt was awarded the FarmHouse Fraternity Barnes Award for Outstanding Interfraternalism, which was presented in March 2022 due to Covid. Burt was recognized with FH Fraternity’s honor to recognize his ongoing impact on the larger fraternal movement. Burt has developed curricula and presented at the organization’s annual Leadership Institute for student leaders.

Burt brings more than seventeen years of professional association management experience. He is an accomplished nonprofit professional, with a comprehensive background in leadership development and membership services.

Originally from Georgia, Burt holds a Master’s Degree in Executive Leadership from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
