ABOUT THE AWHONN FOUNDATION
Supporting nurses. Strengthening care. Improving lives.

Our Commitment to Research

Since its founding in 1969 as NAACOG, AWHONN has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to advancing nursing research. Early efforts were led by the NAACOG Research Committee, which supported proposal submissions and fostered research development. In 1993, the organization transitioned to AWHONN, marking the beginning of its formal research grant program. This program was officially named Every Woman, Every Baby (EWEB) in 2013, continuing AWHONN’s legacy of supporting evidence-based practice and innovation in women’s and newborn health.

It is because of generous individual contributions and corporate giving that we can provide nurses with these resources to help reach and expand their professional goals:

  • Professional development grants and scholarships (convention scholarships)
  • Patient safety and care education (NOEP/POEP, PBC)
  • Leadership development initiatives and programs (Emerging Leaders)
  • Evidence-based practice immersions (EBP)
  • Global Service-Learning Program (APEX)
  • Research awards (research award)

To reflect the breadth and depth of education, research and support that AWHONN provides its members and their patients, Every Woman Every Baby became the AWHONN Foundation.
