The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is one of 14 partner organizations to receive up to $10k in grant funding to support and expand dissemination of the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Project Firstline Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) resources, ensuring front-line nurses and health care workers are up to date with the latest information.

AWHONN began working on the grant in September 2021 and will complete the project in June 2022. As part of the grant, AWHONN will award 40 student nurses a year-long student membership to AWHONN. The student nurses will review four Project Firstline modules and complete a pre- and post-test for each module.

Each student nurse will create an educational project related to Project Firstline, in a format of their own choosing. Five additional students will receive a complimentary registration to the AWHONN Annual Convention in Colorado in June 2022.

ANA Project Firstline’s focus is the development and distribution of engaging IPC content and resources created for nurses, by nurses. Selected partner organizations will use grant funding to support IPC training and education following the Project Firstline curriculum.
