AWHONN Mourns the Passing of Sofia Navard

Dear AWHONN Friends,

We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Sofia Navard, who passed suddenly on January 10, 2023. Sofia was Assistant Managing Editor of Strategic Partnerships & Publications, and producer and host of the AWHONN Insights Podcast Series.

Sofia joined AWHONN in May 2019 and was an immediate fit with the AWHONN team, making friends, contributing her enormous talent for writing and editing, and bringing her beautiful voice to the AWHONN Insights Podcasts.

Sofia’s joy for life was evident in all she did, and we benefitted from her warmth, humor and spirit. She brought music and laughter to our staff meetings and went above and beyond with the Cheer Committee to bring the AWHONN staff closer together during the pandemic, when we were in isolation.

Sofia was an avid golfer and was passionate about helping other Black women find their place in the sport. In addition to her work with AWHONN, she was a freelance journalist who produced content for Golf Digest.

Sofia passed at the home she shared with her mother in Orlando. She remains in our hearts at AWHONN.
