Washington, DC — The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) has announced Mary Dawn Koenig, PhD, RN, FACNM, will be stepping into the vacant at-large director position on AWHONN’s Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to announce that Mary Dawn Koenig has been appointed as our newest board member. She brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that is sure to contribute to AWHONN’s mission and help us achieve our goals. As a board, we are excited to welcome her and look forward to the unique contributions she will bring.” said AWHONN Board President Cheryl Bellamy, DNP, APRN, CNM, CNS-C, C-EFM.

“I’m delighted to be joining the Board of Directors at AWHONN. I’ve been a member for over 28 years. AWHONN was the first professional organization that I joined, and it’s been instrumental to my professional growth and development. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to give back to the organization,” said Dr. Koenig.

A vacancy in the board was created in January when an elected board member stepped down. According to AWHONN Bylaws, vacancies for at-large director positions can be filled from the slate of qualified nominees submitted by the most recent National Nominating Committee and voted on by the Board of Directors.
