Overview
AWHONN is committed to advancing nursing research and scholarship by funding nurse-led projects that promote evidence-based practice to improve outcomes for women, newborns, and families. This grant program is made possible through Every  Woman, Every Baby – AWHONN’s charitable giving program.
Thanks to generous contributions, AWHONN is able to support lifelong learning for nurses, generate new research that strengthens nursing practice, and provide resources that empower women and their families. We are grateful to our supporters and proud to invest in the future of nursing research.
Objective
This funding opportunity is designed to support nurse scientists, especially student and early career nurse researchers, in launching or advancing their research programs. Projects must align with AWHONN’s Research Priorities.
We especially encourage projects that are:
  • Clinically focused and outcome driven
  • Directly relevant to nursing practice and patient care
  • Addressing urgent challenges in maternal and neonatal health such as maternal morbidity and mortality, health equity, perinatal mental health, lactation and infant feeding, or neonatal outcomes
By supporting these projects, AWHONN seeks to build research capacity among nurses and foster innovation that leads to measurable improvements in care.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
  • Be a registered nurse and an active AWHONN member
  • Submit an IRB-approved protocol (or show proof that IRB approval is in progress, with final approval required before funds are released)
  • Provide a detailed budget and justification
  • Include letters of support from their affiliated institution(s) (e.g., university/college, clinical site, data collection facility)
